That Time We Spread Joy Among Housing Justice Leaders in San Diego

This winter, GetSomeJoy partnered with Funders Together for Housing Justice to bring some joy to the 2026 National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH) Leadership Summit on Ending Homelessness.

We connected with Housing Justice leaders from across the country to learn how they’re prioritizing mental health for themselves and the communities they serve.

Here’s what’s happened and how this collaboration formalized.

Phase 1 of our Community Wellness Partnership with Funders Together for Housing Justice consisted of:

  • Conference Grounding by Alex Hardy

  • Community Literary Therapy Wall + Resource Table x two days

  • 300 print copies of griefKit: Crowdsourced tools and considerations for raggedy times

  • Community Mental Health Check-In for FTHJ leaders and members

Conference attendees share reflections on GetSomeJoy’s Community Literary Therapy Wall — San Diego, CA. March 2026

What does joy mean to you? How does it look, feel, sound, taste?

Joy is freedom

What is a resource, ritual, recipe, or mindset that has helped you cope, thrive, or find joy? How has this helped?

I’ve been learning about civil rights heroes through local political education events. Learning with others is more fun than solo.

What parts of serving your community bring you joy, satisfaction, or a sense of purpose?

The part of serving my community that brings me joy is the AHA moments, the break throughs, & the miracles of getting them housing. The small success on the day 2 day—ID, SSC, sobriety, and getting out of bed
